Two young men were brutally attacked by at least four people who assaulted them with bladed weapons in the Catamarca locality of San Antonio, and one of them is in serious condition.
According to police sources, the incident occurred around 5 AM on Sunday in the aforementioned locality of the Fray Mamerto Esquiú department. The victims are two young men, aged 24 and 25, identified as Agustín Elizalde and Ángel José Vizcarra.
According to initial reports, both were attacked by people with whom they presumably had some kind of prior argument or altercation. According to El Esquiú de Catamarca, the confrontation escalated rapidly when the aggressors drew their bladed weapons, after which they stabbed the two young men.
Following the attack, the victims were assisted and urgently transferred to the San Juan Bautista Hospital. It was noted that Elizalde's health condition is concerning due to serious wounds that compromised vital organs. Meanwhile, Vizcarra also suffered cuts and stab wounds, but his prognosis is said to be more stable. Both young men are under strict medical observation, as reported by the Argentine News Agency.
Police officers from the Third Precinct and the Investigations Division intervened in the incident. The Justice Department, through the Instruction Prosecutor's Office of the district on duty, has initiated proceedings to identify and capture those responsible for the violent attack. Meanwhile, investigators are reviewing the area's security cameras to determine the sequence of events and identify the aggressors.
